Birmingham // 22.12.16 // Frankfurt Christmas Market
A magical feast for the senses, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is truly a delight.
And here begins my first travel post. I say travel, but seeing as Birmingham is my second home now I’m at University there, I am cheating here. Whoopsy. However, I’m at home for the Chrimbo hols and so I think I can just about get away with justifying a day-trip out to Brum as a travel piece.
Teetering on the top of the festive big wheel in a tiny carriage that rocks with the wind, the vertigo-inducing ride provides a bird’s eye view of the UK’s second city. By day, the ferris wheel acts as the perfect sight-seeing spot, with panoramic views of the town hall, Grand Central and the Bullring in the distance. But by night, you can fly above the city and experience the magic of Birmingham sprinkled with lights.
The market itself is a sensory joy. Strolling amongst the displays, festooned with garlands and ribbons aplenty, you’ll encounter aromas that emanate Christmas. Traditional German sausages, chocolate crepes and the comfort of mulled wine will send you into the Christmas spirit, whilst also satisfying those hungry customers.

As for that Christmas spirit, some years it can be hard to muster it up. But a trip to Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market will surely sort you out with a good ol’ dose of it.
And with that, we were headed home with a warm, festive fuzziness inside xoxo
