Aaand here’s the last of my countdown to Christmas posts! It’s officially Christmas Eve!
I’m going to keep this short and sweet, because it is holiday time after all, and I’m writing this at 1pm on Christmas Eve, I’m about to head out for some food with my boyfriend, so I’m v keen to get this post wrapped up as I am v v v v hungry. Let the festivities begin!
I hope Christmas treats you well! I hope you get some lovely presents, spend some quality time to those nearest and dearest to you and most of all, I hope you get to switch off, relax and find happiness <3
This year has been in some respects the best year of my life. I’ve achieved things I’m beyond proud of, I’ve created some of the best memories and I’ve finally found my feet with this blog. I know which direction I want to take my lil site in in the New Year, and this lil snippet I’m about to share with you is one avenue I definitely want to explore on the ol’ blog.
My first love in life was music. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve listened to music to make me feel happy, to make me understand the world and to identify with feelings that are unexplainable through words. Way back in Year 7, I fell in love with performing. I play the piano, the guitar and I sing- and believe it or not, since the age of 12 to around 17, music was what I wanted to do with my life. Which is super strange because although I do very much still love to perform, it’s in no way at all what I’d want to do as a career anymore. I much prefer to write.
However, one thing I’ve really missed this year is doing music. Being at uni, I’ve had way too much work on to even think about taking back up long lost hobbies, and I want that to change in 2018. I want to restart my SoundCloud and get uploading on there again, and this is a taster of what’s to come on my blog in the v near future.
I recorded this wee Christmas song with my best friend, Ellen, the other day. It’s not our best, I’ve got to admit- I had a lot of uni work on at the time we recorded it, so we literally had to decide how we were going to perform the song and get it recorded in around an hour, before Ellen had to shoot off to let me get on with my essays. But I really wanted to get this song done; to kickstart everything that is to come in the new year. So here’s our wee version of Wham’s Last Christmas, and I really hope you enjoy it. As I said, it’s not our best, and it’s a v rushed recording, but I hope it brings you some festive feelings. (Also, side note: would be better to listen on a mobile, as the sound on my laptop is not the loudest).
I’d love to know what you think about me sharing more music on my blog in the new year, and any other posts you’d like to see. I may be back next week with another post, or I might just leave it til the New Year now. I’ll see you all very soon and I really hope you have a lovely Christmas and a happy New Year.
Lots of love, Maddie xxxx
