‘Style’: A New Direction

So you’ve gone and clicked on ‘Style’ – and this is a section that’s had a lil revamp, because I’ve started thinking differently about all things clothing, fashion and style over the last few months.

Yo gal was literally awful when it came to buying clothes throughout University. I’m not proud to say it, but I’d say my student loan became a ‘buy-nice-clothes-from-crap-fast-fashion-brands-when-you’re-stressed-as-a-coping-mechanism’ fund. And now I’ve left University, am a helluva lot less stressed and work for a company who has sustainability at its core, I’ve really started thinking more mindfully about the purchases I make.

Bath is pwetty. These are old pics but it’s now just FIFTEEN MINS on the train from where I live!!!! Bristol is fun!!!!

We gotta care for our planet. And I read a quote a few weeks ago about sustainability which really stuck with me, and I think it’s something I hope to embody with my ‘Style’ posts on the blog: “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

And that’s just what I think I’ll be trying to get at with my ‘Style’ posts going forward: it’s impossible to be ‘perfect’ at this, it’s okay to feel like you want to treat yourself to a new item of clothing that makes you feel your best self once in a while, but our main aim should always be about re-wearing, revitalising our current wardrobe with new combos of clothing you already have, and if you do want to treat yo self, maybe check out the sick charity shop down the road, first.

There’ll be a post coming very very soon with all my thoughts on sustainable clothing, how unattainable it often is, and why pushing the notion of always just buying sustainably is unfortunately maybe a little bit too much of an ask for the average Joe (and by that I mean people like you and me). Let’s just all try our best to be as good as we can, and celebrate the freedom that style allows us to explore our personalities and confidence in the process! I do love expressing myself through style, and that ain’t gon’ change ’round here 🙂
